Having no traction (the reason for them sliding to being with) means they will continue to travel in the same direction as they were, until they 1 get traction or 2 hit another car. Ice ≠ traction.

    looks like that tractor trailer loosed that lid to the storm drain and the water erupted from the sewer. Prolly alot of water uphill flowing down through the area and with that lid gone the path of least resistance was up and out. look close when it ends you see the lid in front of a truck in the opposite lanes.
