Drag Racing slow motion video – Top Fuel Action !

Slow motion video footage from Drag Racing event (Nitro Nationals 2008, Alastaro Circuit, Finland).

Here’s ten minute collection of various top fuel dragster action bits.. from line up to burn outs and then some drags… well not everyone made it to the finish line. :)

Note: one of the top fuel drivers in the video is Janne Ahonen, “world’s fastest ski jumper” from Finland.

    He’s right. You cannot begin to describe the sound of a Top Fueler making a pass. I work at Portland International Raceway and have seen and heard Stock Cars on our track. In fact, I’m the sound monitor. Stock cars will get up to 115ish dB’s. around 105dB is when most people want to cover their ears. 115dB actually hurts your ears. Top fuel cars…140+dB. I have never heard anything louder in my life.

    I’ll try to use words, they rattle your eyeballs!! And since they are rattling and you can’t see anything, you FEEL them going down the track, because it rattles everything else. By the time the race is done, you are trying to figure out what happened. When the 9.90 cars come out (which is fast, respectable time) you feel like you are waiting an eternity for them to finish!! You really do have to go to the track and see these things. It is unlike anything else.

    I think its a ridiculus waste of time and resources, but hey, to each their own. I’m know there are lots of things that I love that most people find boring. Most motor sports are sort of reckless and wastefull, but thats what these people are into. I just like slow motion video. But I’m sure that its a hoot to go down the track in one of these things or one of the cars that you like, you self ritious cunt.
